In Assin Fosu

Assin Fosu

For people who have't been to the Assin North Municipal Assembly, well you guys are missing out. Assin Fosu is the district capital and its a contrast of modern architecture and old buildings. The town is exactly three hours from Accra, the capital. Financial institutions in this town include: Ghana commercial Bank, Prodential Bank and Agricultural Development Bank (ADB). The town has a very good hospiatal, a training college a secondary school, a post office etc.
Electricity in the town is very stable, just like in the Capital with occassional power cuts. But all is not perfect in this town. There are some important things you should know in other to get the most out of this interesting town.

Accommodation;
Cheap can be very expensive in this town. For those of you who plan to save in your trip to Assin Fosu, well you are in for the ride of your life. Take my honest advise. Invest in quality. There are a lot of lodges in this town but very few meet the standard. Those ones that meet the standards really meet the standard and those that don't, well you will see for yourself. There are three guest houses i will recommend to any traveler to Assin Fosu.
1. Oli's Guest House. Close to the Fosu police barrier (The Best so Far) GHc 45 a night
2. Hollywood Guest house. Close to the total feeling station. (Second Best) GHc 35
3.

If these guest houses are full, sleep in your car.

Good Food
Food is very good here. The peopel in Assin Fosu really know how to cook. If you want to try local street food. Go to the market at night close to the commercial bank and the Assemble canteen opposit the district Assemble Hall. There you will find a lot of local street food. Note: Saniataion is okey there. If you want to try continental Dishes, there is only one place you can go; Holywood restorant. Trust me, you wouldn't regret it.

Mobility
There are Taxis going practically everywhere in Town. Fosu is very accessible. You can get STC to Accra and Cape-Coast. Getting a car back to Accra is very easy to get. If you miss the STC buss you can alway get the local Trotro at the GPRTU Station at the central market.

Security and Safety
People here are very decent people. I walk in town every evening and at night because of the cool night breeze and fill very safe. But alway be careful nit to walk in very dark places and try to walk with a local if you are not Ghanaian.

Internet and Cell Phone Network Access
Internet access in not too popular here. There are very few internet Cafes here. But if you have a network moderm, you will be able to access the internet everywhere in Assin Fosu. You will also be able to get network access with all the cell phone networks in Assin Fosu.
